Aleinik: Some Western countries are desperate to maintain global dominance

MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) –  A small group of Western countries is desperate to maintain dominance in the international arena, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said after negotiations with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov who was on an official visit to Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Reviewing the outcomes of the talks, Sergei Aleinik emphasized: “We have practically a shared view of the ongoing processes. We acknowledge that the world is changing rapidly; tectonic shifts are taking place and this is pushing the world towards justice and multipolarity. Yet, against this background, a small group of Western countries is desperately trying to preserve dominance and status quo and resorts to all means while doing so, including military means.”

“We remain undaunted and dignified as we are going through this stage. The Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation have built a solid mechanism of genuine alliance and strategic partnership. We stand shoulder to shoulder amidst unprecedented political, economic, and now military pressure on the part of the collective West,” added Sergei Aleinik.

“Over these years, we have circled the wagons, strengthened our integration, and come up with a model of effective work and mutual support in an unfriendly environment. This model is much more effective than all previous ones, as it allows us to stay resilient to numerous challenges. However, we understand that countries and peoples need a more comfortable and enabling environment to move forward,” the foreign minister added.
