18th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum Opens in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, 30 October (BelTA) - The 18th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum, which has brought together prominent politicians, heads of major companies, scholars and experts from over 30 countries, opened in Istanbul, BelTA has learned.

The forum's founder, Professor Antonio Fallico (Italy), President of the Conoscere Eurasia Association, recalled that the event was first held in Verona in 2007. Its goal was to initiate a permanent dialogue on the economic, social, and political development of the greater Eurasian space, on Eurasia's role, and on the prospects and goals of the economy itself within a historical context that even at that time foreshadowed structural geopolitical changes.
“Our dialogue has always been open to all businesses and institutions, regardless of their geographical location, geopolitical affiliation, and even membership in military blocs. In particular, the work of recent forums has shown the necessity to also give a voice to the countries of BRICS and the Eurasian Economic Union, considering their current demographic, economic, and geopolitical role. At the same time, we have acknowledged that the economy needs to serve human needs and the interests of all, not just the profit and benefit of shareholders, so as not to further increase the vast social inequality that affects the entire planet - Europe and Asia, the East and the West,” said Antonio Fallico.

“After 14 forums in Verona, since 2022 we decided to hold it outside of Italy to allow everyone to participate, without restrictions or discrimination. Thus, the forum was held in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2022, in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand in 2023 in and in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE in 2024. Today we are in magnificent Istanbul that intertwines the history, culture, and destinies of Europe and Asia, the Mediterranean and the Silk Roads, the Balkans and Asia Minor, Christianity and Islam,” he noted.

Antonio Fallico pointed out that Çırağan Palace, which is hosting the 18th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum, is a venue for prestigious international meetings aimed at fostering mutual understanding and cooperation among nations. “Among these, we cannot fail to mention three meetings, held from May to July of this year, between delegations from Russia and Ukraine, supported by President Erdoğan,” he said. “Therefore, it is no surprise that Türkiye has opened its doors for the 18th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum. The country has become one of the beacons of the current international system and has surpassed, in terms of its influence on the world stage, what its own political, economic, and military potential might suggest,” he said.

The main theme of this year's forum is New Energy for New Economic Realities. It reflects the key challenges of our time, which have been incorporated into the business program's agenda. The discussions will be dedicated to finding innovative solutions in energy, industry, finance, transport, digital technologies, agriculture, and the social welfare sector. The dialogue will involve prominent politicians, heads of major companies, scholars and experts from various countries. The participants will discuss how joint international efforts can achieve significant results in ensuring social well-being and the global prosperity of Greater Eurasia.
