The first-ever sand sculpture festival in Belarus has opened in Gomel. On the site, artists from across the country are creating works of art using nothing more than sand, water, and inspiration. For several days, residents and visitors have watched as these amazing images emerge from simple material. The sculptors work from the top down, a technique where every stroke demands not just precision, but immense skill. A total of ten sculptures will be created, each requiring approximately 20 tonnes of sand. In all, more than 200 tonnes of material were delivered for the festival.
