On 17 September, a rally to mark People’s Unity Day was held in Brest at the monument on the mass grave of Soviet soldiers who died in 1939 and in 1944-1945. Attending the event were city officials, members of parliament, representatives of public organizations and labor collectives, schoolchildren and students. Participants laid flowers at the monument and observed a moment of silence to honor the memory of the liberators.
