Bereza Kartuska museum

Bereza Kartuska museum   The Bereza Kartuska concentration camp was established by Polish occupiers on 17 June 1934. The Bereza Kartuska camp is considered one of the most horrific concentration camps of the 20th century. The camp ceased to exist on 17 September 1939. It was housed in the Red Barracks. Several years ago, a permanent museum exhibition was opened in one of them. The exhibition about the concentration camp leaves no one indifferent.
Visitors can explore three halls. The first hall introduces the history of the concentration camp and its prisoners. For example, a model displays the camp's main structures. On the wall, an artist has depicted a “bloody path”. It was made of crushed red bricks; prisoners were forced to crawl across it. The museum has recreated a disciplinary cell and a prison cell. The exhibition features authentic photographs and documents, banners and leaflets, memoirs, and personal effects of the victims.
