Journalists on the Roads of Victory international media tour visited the Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad Museum-Reserve at the site of the January 1943 siege breakthrough, codenamed Iskra. One of the two museums located here features a unique panorama depicting the events that took place on the Nevsky Pyatachok. The panorama includes an episode honoring Belarusian Filimon Sokolov, who was killed on 17 February 1943. His fate remained unknown for decades until his remains were discovered in 2013 with two other soldiers in a crater, identified by a handmade medallion. Journalists from CIS news agencies also visited the exhibition of the State Memorial Museum of the Defense and Siege of Leningrad. During the 900-day siege of Leningrad from 8 September 1941 to 27 January 1944, the city endured immense hardships, displaying extraordinary heroism, selflessness, and civic duty. At Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery, media representatives laid flowers at the Mother Motherland monument, the site of 186 mass graves where 420,000 siege victims and 70,000 soldiers were buried.
