World War I battle reenacted in Ivatsevichi District

he events of World War I were recreated as part of the Military History Festival Vygonoshchi Fortress 2018 in Ivatsevichi District, Brest Oblast, on 14 July.

The festival was held in the village of Vygonoshchi, Ivatsevichi District, for the fourth time. The venue was chosen for a reason. The fortifications such as pillboxes, bunkers from World War I have survived here. The village of Vygonoshchi was the place of the fortified German defense site on the territory of Brest Oblast. The festival featured about 100 reenactors from nine clubs of Belarus and Russia. The Battalion club from St. Petersburg reenacted the participation of the first-ever female Russian army battalion led by Maria Bochkareva in World War I, which was the real draw of the festival.

The event was organized with the support of the Ivatsevichi local authorities, Telekhany village council, the Fortification of Brest public fund, the Polesie Agrarian Ecological Institute at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
