MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) - Winter crops in Belarus have been sown on 787,400 hectares, which is 54.1% (or 1,456,100 hectares) of the target area, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
Over half of the areas under winter crops are ready in Brest Oblast, Vitebsk Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Mogilev Oblast. Almost half of the areas in Gomel Oblast (44.6%) has been sown.
Grain and leguminous crops (including corn) have been harvested from 2.109 million hectares (89.4% of the target area). Some 6.426 million tonnes of grain has been threshed. Minsk Oblast is leading with more than 1.6 million tonnes threshed. It is followed by Brest Oblast - more than 1.2 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast - more than 1.1 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast - 856,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 805,900 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 783,300 tonnes.
