USA lifts sanctions from two Belarusian banks, Finance Ministry. Final decision on potash

MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – The United States of America will lift sanctions from two Belarusian banks and the Finance Ministry. Apart from that, the matter of potassium has been finally resolved. U.S. Special Envoy John Coale made the statement after negotiations with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 19 March, BelTA has learned.
John Coale said: “The USA is lifting sanctions from Belinvestbank, the Development Bank, and the Finance Ministry.”

A statement about lifting sanctions from Belarusian potassium was also made during the previous round of negotiations in December 2025. Judging by the latest statements made by the U.S. special envoy, the matter has been finally put to rest. “The USA has also made the decision (the president was told about that) that two Belarusian companies – Belarusian Potash Company and Belaruskali – are going to be removed from all kinds of sanctions lists,” the U.S. special envoy said.
The reporters asked John Coale to clarify how much time will be needed in order to implement the new decisions on lifting the sanctions in practice: whether it will be done right away or whether some time will be needed.

“I can assure you that this time all of it will happen much faster,” John Coale stressed. “We’ve learned how to do things faster. Prior to coming to Minsk on a visit we held expanded negotiations with the Department of the Treasury and other U.S. structures that are involved in the enforcement of the sanctions.”
