GRODNO, 9 April (BelTA) – Truck traffic across border checkpoints of the Grodno Regional Customs increased by 8% in Q1 2020, BelTA has learned.
Since the beginning of the year this branch of the Belarusian customs service has cleared about 300,000 trucks. Their number increased by 8% in comparison with the same period of last year.
As many as 44% of the semi-trailer trucks went through two border checkpoints at the Belarusian-Polish border – Bruzgi and Berestovitsa. Respectively 56% of the trucks opted for crossing the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, primarily via the border checkpoint Kamenny Log. Half of all the vehicles that crossed the Belarusian-Lithuanian border chose to do so via this border checkpoint.
The amount of freight transported by road is on the rise in Grodno Oblast. Over 4 million tonnes of merchandise was transported across the customs border in Q1 2020, more than 6% up from January-March 2019.
