MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – A third unit at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP), which will supplement the two existing units, will require the recruitment of over 1,000 additional personnel, BelNPP Director General Sergei Bobovich told journalists following a meeting with the head of state, BelTA reports.
When asked about the potential number of personnel required for the plant’s expansion, Sergei Bobovich replied: “I think more than a thousand.”
He emphasized that the plant welcomed the decision: “Experience has shown that the project’s implementation and joint efforts to improve the plant’s operation allow us to move forward.”
According to him, the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant is fully staffed today. “We are currently recruiting graduates from universities and vocational training schools. We don’t need additional personnel while operating two units. It’s also clear that with the continued development of the nuclear energy industry, one of the main tasks will be training personnel for the third unit,” Sergei Bobovich explained.
He affirmed that the plant is functioning in a stable and reliable manner. Currently, one unit is undergoing scheduled maintenance, which will continue until early January, while the second unit is operating at its nominal capacity.
