Project to build large pig farm in Klimovichi District 60% complete

KLIMOVICHI DISTRICT, 23 January (BelTA) - A pig fattening farm designed to house 51,000 head is under construction at the Klim-Agro branch of Klimovichi Grain Processing Plant in Klimovichi District. The readiness of the facility to date is nearly 60%, BelTA has learned.

Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi inspected the progress of the work on 23 January.

According to Director General of the Mogilev Oblast Rural Construction company Nikolai Volkov, the farm consists of two parts: engineering and transport infrastructure and the main facility. The cost exceeds Br50 million. “Currently, the work is being carried out by our subsidiaries – the construction and assembly crews from Mogilev, Klimovichi, Cherikov, and Slavgorod. In total, around 100 people are working on the site today,” he said. “Winter conditions naturally slow the pace of work a bit, but there are ways to work in such weather as well. Therefore, the work has not stopped and is proceeding at full speed.”
According to Aleksandr Rudenya, Director of the Klimovichi Grain Processing Plant, their enterprise is implementing its second project under the socio-economic development program for the southeastern part of Mogilev Oblast. “The first project is a pig breeding farm for 3,600 head. It was commissioned in April 2023 and reached its design capacity in April 2025. Its capacity is 100,000 piglets for subsequent fattening,” he explained. “Now, a fattening farm is under construction. Its capacity is 51,000 head per year.”

The new facilities, he noted, will allow for an increase in pork production by 5,000 to 7,000 tonnes per year, totaling 11,100 tonnes annually.
“Our main line of business is the procurement and processing of grain crops, so we will have sufficient feed for our needs. Our grain reserves are fully stocked, all storage is filled. The feed mill is operating at 100% capacity. Currently, we are producing 10,000 tonnes of feed per month and approximately 5,000 tonnes of flour,” Aleksandr Rudenya said. “After the completion of this construction, we are planning a number of other projects, also under the socio-economic development program for the southeastern part of Mogilev Oblast. These include the reconstruction of the pelleting line at the feed mill. The plans includes the installation of a seed processing line to produce high-quality certified seeds for sale to agricultural organizations, in exchange of feed grain. Additionally, there is a grain drying facility in Slavgorod with a capacity of 100 tonnes per hour, which will increase grain receiving volumes and, accordingly, improve the economics of grain logistics.”
