Potential of Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park presented before Kenyan delegation

MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – A Kenyan delegation led by Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Kenya Amason Jeffah Kingi visited the Hi-Tech Park. This visit was a significant step in stepping up international cooperation and discovering new horizons for advancing partnership in the field of information technologies and innovative solutions, representatives of the Hi-Tech Park told BelTA.
The Hi-Tech Park is supposed to seek new markets and opportunities, noted Anna Ryabova, Head of the Secretariat of the Hi-Tech Park Supervisory Board. “Hosting such a high-level delegation from Kenya is a very important and responsible event for us. Especially considering the geopolitical turbulence in the world. We are actively looking for new ways to interact with other countries,” Anna Ryabova said.
She added that the African continent is extremely interesting for the Hi-Tech Park and Kenya in particular is the subject of serious attention. “We already have positive cases: several companies successfully operate in this market. We are ready to offer the distinguished delegation all our achievements, including our experience in establishing the legal regime of the Hi-Tech Park, cryptocurrency regulations as well as ready-made products and any R&D products at their request,” the head of the secretariat emphasized. “Growing economies in Africa are open to bold new solutions. This is perfectly in line with ambitions of our companies. As a result, unexpected and interesting results can be achieved, which is more complicated to achieve in saturated markets.”

The Kenyan senator Olekina Ledama stressed that technology is one of the most important things, this is why cooperation with Belarus, which exports it, will be a good continuation of the development of bilateral relations. “There is no doubt that we can cooperate. Kenya has an incubation center to where we bring young professionals to develop solutions together. We have one of the best technologies in the world: the mobile payment solution M-Pesa developed in our incubator. It inspires the whole world in the field of mobile payments,” he said. “Big technology and financial technology companies get a lot from Belarus. We have an opportunity to work together. The Hi-Tech Park is very important to us and I look forward to our cooperation.”
The senator also stressed the need to develop partnerships in the field of cybersecurity. “We’ve discussed the construction of security systems in Kenya. Together with the Hi-Tech Park it will be a fruitful collaboration,” Olekina Ledama said.

The guests of the country were given a detailed overview of the legal regulation of the IT sector in Belarus, noting its important role in the country’s economic development and its high attractiveness to foreign partners. Particular attention was paid to individual innovative projects of the park’s resident companies, which were highly appreciated for their practical focus and potential for scaling up at the international level.

The Kenyan representatives emphasized the strategic role of innovation for the economic progress of their country and expressed a keen interest in developing cooperation with Belarus in the IT sphere.
As a result of the meeting the parties agreed to develop cooperation, hold events, and exchange best practices, which will create favorable conditions for achieving sustainable and mutually beneficial results.

The negotiations open up new opportunities for Belarusian IT companies in the fast-growing African market, representatives of the Hi-Tech Park noted.
