ALMATY, 31 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ chairmanship in the EAEU in 2025 will be aimed at strengthening joint work in all areas of integration activities, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting on 30 January, BelTA has learned.
Belarus took over the chairmanship in the EAEU bodies on 1 January. The goals and objectives of this chairmanship have been set out in the address of the President of the Republic of Belarus to the heads of the EAEU member states.
According to Roman Golovchenko, Belarus’ chairmanship this year will be aimed at strengthening joint work in all areas of integration activities.
“We will traditionally try to pay special attention to the development of a common cooperative industrial space, the implementation of joint projects on the already adopted decisions to support industry, agriculture, to make additional efforts in such an important area today as digital transformation of the economy,” the prime minister said.
It is necessary to continue active international cooperation of the EAEU with a focus on expanding the effectively operating network of preferential trade agreements, Roman Golovchenko added.
“In order to position the Union internationally, we support the initiative to hold the EAEU Days at the UN Headquarters in Geneva as part of the 2025 UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development in April,” the prime minister said.
It seems expedient to present the EAEU’s Sustainable Development Goals report at the high-level political forum on sustainable development, which is annually held at the UN Headquarters in New York. “The previous report on this platform was made by the commission in 2017. I am sure that we have something to share with the world community today,” Roman Golovchenko emphasized.
In his words, the agenda of today's meeting includes a number of sensitive issues. The prime minister expressed confidence that the parties would find mutually satisfactory solutions on all these issues.
