MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian tractor engineering company MTZ should earn money instead of asking for money from the state, BelTA learned from MTZ Director General Vitaly Vovk on 11 June. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko authorized his appointment earlier today.

Vitaly Vovk remarked that he has his own perception of the strategy to develop the company. It is based on his considerable experience of working in the production sector and his managerial skills. Among the tasks he intends to deal with first in his new position, he mentioned profitability, output growth, and higher export. “Effectiveness above all. MTZ should earn money instead of asking for it,” the director general stressed.

Speaking about increasing the volume of export, the executive noted there are certain difficulties. “A lot has changed on the markets around us. Environmental standards have become tougher, resulting in higher prices. Not everyone is ready to pay for a new product. It is one of the reasons behind problems with sales. Together with the team we will have to optimize the retail chains, set clear goals, make a modern quality tractor,” Vitaly Vovk said.

In his opinion, it is necessary to take measures to keep the company's position on the Russian market. “They are looking for new market players in Russia, for companies to make products in the Russian Federation. Many prominent brands [are competing for this opportunity]. For us the Russian market is a premium one and is connected to us with many years of manufacturing cooperation schemes. This is a market we cannot lose our position on,” the executive is convinced.

A complicated situation is evolving on non-CIS markets, too, for instance, in Pakistan. “The country is very politicized from the point of view of trade and economic relations. Nevertheless, certain progress has been secured. We are going to continue and expand it. But racking up the output is the most important thing,” Vitaly Vovk noted.

The executive assured that MTZ will continue the previous CEO's tradition of arranging original advertising campaigns that people have come to love, campaigns that make the brand more recognizable. Tractor rallies, biathlon, and dances were mentioned. “Everything beneficial to manufacturing will be preserved,” the new MTZ director general added.
