MINSK, 14 February (BelTA-Xinhua) – China has launched trial operation of a special land cargo route between the border city of Erenhot (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, North China) and Minsk, BelTA reports citing Xinhua.

“The new route, opened by the Erenhot Post Office, is designed to provide safer, more convenient, and more efficient cross-border logistics services for local foreign trade enterprises and cross-border e-commerce operators,” a message on the official website of the Erenhot government stated. “Previously, routes connecting Erenhot with Mongolia and Russia had already been opened.”

The Erenhot checkpoint is the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border. Freight train traffic along the China-Europe route began in 2013. As of 2024, 71 international China-Europe railway freight routes passed through it, connecting the country with, among others, Mongolia, Russia, and Belarus. A substantial share of freight traffic is accounted for by commodity goods. Through Erenhot, China mainly supplies footwear, clothing, electromechanical products, automobiles, and auto parts to the global market.
