MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – Tourism is one of Belarus' priority areas for investment. Tourism-related projects will receive support in the same way as projects in the manufacturing industry, Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization (NAIP) Dmitry Krasovsky told journalists at a press conference timed to the 3rd Belarus-Russia Tourism Congress, BelTA has learned.

Dmitry Krasovsky called the National Agency of Investment and Privatization “a one-stop shop for investors”. The agency works with potential financial partners starting from the stage of a business idea. “Today, we are providing services to 74 investors from 21 countries. Their aggregate investment is estimated at half a billion dollars and the number of new jobs at 2,000. Tourism is one of the priority areas for us,” he emphasized.

At the same time, the number of projects related to the hospitality industry is insignificant. They include the construction of a multifunctional hotel and the installation of observation binoculars in Minsk, the creation of a spa complex and a site for a tent city.

Dmitry Krasovsky emphasized that the country is ready to support regional initiatives within the framework of the Development Bank program. “Tourism, in essence, is as important as industrial production for the regions. Several projects have already been selected. These are small hotels, complexes, park hotels,” he said.
