MTZ adopts 3D scanning technology

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) - Specialists from the Chief Technologist’s Department of Minsk Tractor Plant (MTZ trademark) have adopted 3D scanning technology. Miroslav Shugnilo, Acting Head of the Design and Tooling Department within the MTZ Chief Technologist’s Department announced the news, BelTA learned from the plant’s press service.

“On the initiative of the enterprise’s Chief Technologist Sergei Radyuk, a group of our employees has mastered the process of reverse engineering. This is so-called reverse design, where a 3D scanner analyzes the shape of a real physical object, and software creates its precise three-dimensional digital model based on the obtained data. In production, this technology can be used to restore parts, develop new ones, and modernize existing products. This reduces production lead times and lowers manufacturing costs,” Miroslav Shugnilo emphasized.

To date, the department’s specialists have scanned about 15 standard product types and are now ready to disseminate the experience of using 3D scanning technology across the entire plant and conduct relevant training for department employees.
