Mogilev Oblast, Jiangsu Province to scale up bilateral trade

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) – Mogilev Oblast and China's Jiangsu Province are set to expand mutual trade. The matter was discussed at the meeting of Belarus' Consul General in Shanghai Valery Matsel with top executives of Jiangsu-based companies JOC and Suguo Supermarket. The parties also discussed ways to expand and diversify supplies of Belarus' food products to Jiangsu Province, BelTA was told in the Consulate General.

Valery Matsel took part in an international conference in Nanjing to discuss cooperation as part of the Belt and Road project. Speaking at the event he called to step up Belarus-China interregional cooperation in investment, science and technology. Valery Matsel emphasized that thanks to interregional and twin-town contacts between Mogilev Oblast and Jiangsu Province, the export of Belarusian products to this region (that has second-highest GDP of Chinese provinces) tripled in 2018 to reach $40 million. The export was dominated by foodstuffs (milk and beef), sawn timber, chemical products and flex fiber.

During the conference the Belarusian diplomat presented the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone. He also met with Wuxi Deputy Mayor Gao Yaguang to discuss contacts with Belarus' city of Bobruisk.

Apart from that, Valery Matsel gave an interview to Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation.

Taking part in the Belt and Road conference in Nanjing were company heads from China and 12 countries of Europe, Asia and South America.
