MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – The trade between Belarus and Pakistan amounted to $50.3 million in 2024 - and this is far from the limit, Energy Minister, co-chairman of the Belarus-Pakistan commission for trade and economic cooperation Denis Moroz said on the sidelines of the Belarus-Pakistan Business Forum in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Belarus and Pakistan have been maintaining trade and economic relations for over 30 years. “Of course, we have been building our relations step by step. A powerful impetus was given in November 2024, when the president of Belarus visited Pakistan. Back then we decided to give momentum to our trade and economic relations and to advance them to a new level,” Denis Moroz said.

Over the past six months, both sides have been working intensively to fulfill this task, in particular, many negotiations have been held. “In my opinion, the return visit of the prime minister of Pakistan to our country will give another impetus to our relations and will help us explore new avenues of cooperation. Today, we already interact in manufacturing, agriculture, education, at the level of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The areas of interaction are quite diverse. The trade between our countries exceeded $50 million in 2024. This is quite a large amount, but we can do better. I am absolutely sure that the visit of the Pakistani delegation and the ongoing business forum will help us to achieve more,”' he believes.

Denis Moroz also gave advice to Belarusian businesses seeking to establish a foothold on the Pakistani market. “The first thing to know when entering the Pakistani market is that it is a large country with a population of over 250 million - this is a huge market that offers ample opportunities. And if our companies can show flexibility and meet the needs of Pakistani customers, their products will be in great demand. We currently see that our colleagues from Pakistan are very receptive and are ready to accommodate us on their market,” the co-chairman of the commission said.

More than 200 companies from Belarus and Pakistan are taking part in the business forum. There are plans to hold B2B meetings for companies operating in various fields.
