MAZ, Fassi sign memorandum of cooperation

MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) and the Italian firm Fassi signed a memorandum of cooperation on 5 July. MAZ also unveiled the latest offering: a MAZ truck with Fassi crane-manipulators.

The truck is designed for loading and unloading and transport works. It, in fact, combines features of two types of equipment: a telescopic crane and a truck, which makes it convenient for work at dispersed sites, road construction, in agriculture.

The new project will allow MAZ to keep pace with world trends in the auto industry, MAZ General Director Alexander Borovsky stated at the presentation ceremony. Today, for example, in Western Europe, every fourth truck is equipped with crane manipulators. MAZ chose the world-renowned manufacturer as its partner – the Italian Fassi which produces 60 types of cranes of varying carrying capacity.

According to the memorandum, so far MAZ will be supplied with four versions of cranes, however, believes Fassi head Giovanni Fassi the product line will be expanded. The Italian side also hopes that the new technique will be useful not only in the domestic market but also in all countries where MAZ is present.

It is planned that by the end of the year MAZ will produce about 100 trucks with Fassi cranes. According to the memorandum, approximately 30% of components for loading and unloading modules will be produced in Belarus.
