GRODNO, 11 May (BelTA) – Tax revenues and other payments to the budget and extra-budgetary funds from resident companies of the Free Economic zone Grodnoinvest increased by 13% in the first quarter of 2020, BelTA learned from the FEZ administration.
Resident companies of the FEZ Grodnoinvest paid Br49 million in taxes and other payments to the budget and non-budget funds in the first quarter. This represents a 13% increase over the same period a year prior. “The majority of payments were made by the Grodnoinvest resident companies located in Grodno. They accounted for 46% of the total, or Br22.6 million. In the annual comparison, the amount rose by 33%. Resident companied based in Grodno District paid Br2.8 million (up by 41%), those in Smorgon District - Br9.4 million (up by 16%),” the Grodnoinvest administration said.
The average monthly wage increased by 13% in the first quarter; 77 new jobs were created. Sales margins rose by 1.5 times to 15.3%. In January-March, the Grodnoinvest resident companies attracted $157 million in foreign investment, of which $59.8 million was foreign direct investment on a net basis.
Grodnoinvest has 76 resident companies working in engineering, woodworking, food, chemical and light industries, and agriculture. Grodno Oblast was chosen as project site by investors from 40 countries, including the well-known companies as Kronospan, Szynaka Meble, Haver & Boecker, Atlas, PCC and others. More than $1.2 billion in foreign investment has been invested in the region's economy.
