EEC Council to present joint measures amid COVID-19 spread

MOSCOW, 2 April (BelTA) – The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) plans to submit to the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council joint measures of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states amid the spread of the COVID-19 infection, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“On 3 April, the EEC Council will consider a set of joint measures developed by the Commission to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 and economic development of the EAEU countries amid the pandemic. These measures will be recommended to the EAEU member states after their approval at the next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council at the level of heads of government. The meeting will take place in the form of a videoconference on 10 April,” the press service said.

The EEC Council will also consider a draft instruction of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on white sugar exemptions from the CIS free trade regime. It is planned to approve a list of goods of critical import, which will be exempted from import customs duty.

“The EEC report on the state of competition in cross-border markets and measures taken to curb violations of common rules of competition in 2019 will be heard out. It is also planned to study the information of the commission on the results of its work on natural monopolies last year. In particular, it will be the implementation of the road map to harmonize the legislation of the EAEU countries in this area,” the press service added.
