MOSCOW, 11 December (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin chaired a session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Moscow on 11 December. Participants of the session looked into prospects of development of the system of marking goods with identification means in the Eurasian Economic Union, representatives of the trade section of the Eurasian Economic Commission told BelTA.
Taking into account results of the discussion that took place at a summit of the EAEU heads of state in June 2025, key areas of work have been determined: integration on the basis of the information platform of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the technological improvement of the marking system; tighter oversight over the legality and safety of goods by means of interlinking with other oversight systems at the national level; additional tuning of processes to ensure the freedom of movement of marked goods on the union’s domestic market.
In particular, plans have been made to further improve the Eurasian Economic Union’s information systems that are responsible for sharing data about marked goods and for processing queries for ordering/getting marking codes.
One of the main vectors in the Eurasian Economic Commission’s work will be the development of coordinated approaches and mechanisms meant to rule out the possibility of marking goods with unconfirmed legality of import and production as well as the goods that do not meet the corresponding technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnev stated: “One can state that the Eurasian Economic Union’s system for marking goods with identification means is mature. The next step will be further improvement of processes for the sake of more effectively counteracting the turnover of counterfeit products. To achieve these goals, it is primarily necessary to enhance the role of the marking system for controlling the safety of goods and their legality as they are introduced into the turnover.”
