Council for Entrepreneurship Development in session in Minsk

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Aleksandr Komendant spoke about the development of entrepreneurship in the capital city before the start of an offsite session of the Council for Entrepreneurship Development under the Minsk City Executive Committee at the Academpharm enterprise, BelTA has learned.

One of the main topics for discussion during the session was the report on the implementation of the state program “Small and medium-sized entrepreneurship” for 2021-2025.

“The last year of the program is about to start, and we have a lot to discuss. We have ensured the achievement of a number of key indicators. The second task for today is to talk to businesses at the end of 2025 in order to understand what they need in the city of Minsk. After all, about 30% of all the small and medium-sized enterprises in the country are concentrated here. This is a significant contribution not only to the economy of Minsk, but also to the whole of Belarus,” said Aleksandr Komendant.
In terms of the number of employees, this is almost 500,000 people. This is a lot, he stressed, adding that their contribution is particularly important.

The first deputy chairman noted that the state program will continue to operate in the next five-year period. “Taking into account the approved priorities of the social and economic development program for 2026-2030, it will undergo changes: new support tools will be introduced. We will offer the commercial entities what is most interesting to them, including sources of financing,” he said.
Aleksandr Komendant noted that businessmen are always interested in a variety of topics, especially in Minsk. “This is my first meeting of the Minsk Council for Entrepreneurship Development, this is why I am very interested in live communication with entrepreneurs. Our council is filled with representatives of the real sector of the economy who will raise problematic issues. Without a doubt, we will make every effort to help resolve them,” the first deputy chairman concluded.
A member of the council, Director of Academpharm Yuri Mikitsky said that discussion platforms operating under the aegis of the Minsk City Executive Committee are highly respected. “Heads of ministries, government agencies, and regulatory bodies attend them and engage in a direct and open dialogue. There will always be issues whether the economy is growing, stagnating, or stable. The council was created precisely to resolve them,” he noted. “Today in addition to discussing the results of the state program we will talk about the role of Academpharm, a young company in the traditional pharmaceutical industry. We are only 15 years old, but we are already in the 11th place among 40 Belarusian pharmaceutical companies. All of our products are innovative and aimed at import substitution. We are entering the market at a time when new drugs against epidemics and infections are needed.”
For example, in 2021 at the height of COVID-19 Academpharm released Rivaxan, an analogue of Xarelto, a key drug for the treatment of COVID-19.

Academpharm is a state-owned enterprise founded by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. “We comply with all state standards in Belarus and consider ourselves one of the best in the industry,” Yuri Mikitsky concluded.
