MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) –  Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov announced the launch of a new production facility at MAZ as he spoke to the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“At the beginning of next year, we will commission a new production facility at Minsk Automobile Plant. This modern facility will make about 3,000 passenger vehicles, which will help us to further increase the export potential of MAZ,” said Aleksandr Yefimov. He also announced plans to carry out technological upgrade at BelAZ. Gomselmash is running large projects to expand the line-up of combines and to build its own capacities to produce component parts.

Import substitution is a separate topic, the minister noted. “We need to switch from import substitution to proactive import substitution. In other words, today our enterprises already make forecasts for units and systems that will be needed in the future. Gomselmash is a striking example of such work. Its combines are equipped with various systems to assist an operator: precision farming systems, autonomous operation, optical vision. This allows a high degree of accuracy and quality during harvesting and forage preparation,” he emphasized.

“Of course, we are implementing an array of projects in machine tool manufacturing. We have made a priority of ensuring technological sovereignty of our state, and the Union State. After all, the production of consumer goods is impossible without technology, without the means of production. In total, our program lists more than 60 large, important investment projects worth several billion rubles,” added Aleksandr Yefimov.
