MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) - In January-February of this year, the trade between Belarus and Egypt over the same period a year prior, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting with Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mustafa Madbouly in Cairo on 30 April, BelTA has learned.
"Last year our trade approached $100 million, which does not correspond to the potential. Indeed, there are a number of factors that put pressure on our economic ties. They are related to illegal measures of economic pressure on Belarus, and to the destruction of global logistics and financial chains," Roman Golovchenko said as he addressed his Egyptian counterpart.
However, the Belarusian prime minister added that there is no need to refer to these difficulties. The governments of the two countries must make every effort to maintain and reinforce the positive trends. "The trends are there. In the first two months of this year, the trade between Belarus and Egypt doubled year-on-year," the Belarusian head of government stressed.
“We have brought a large business delegation representing the largest sectors of the Belarusian economy,” Roman Golovchenko noted. "It is important that we find new points of growth, new product niches, new mechanisms of interaction and implement joint projects more actively," the prime minister stated.
