Brest 2020 International B2B contact fair might be postponed

BREST, 16 March (BelTA) - Brest 2020 International B2B contact fair may be postponed, director for foreign economic cooperation of the Brest Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Elena Pivnik told BelTA.

“We continue to prepare the event, but there is a high probability that it may be postponed to a later date. There has been no such instruction yet. It is issues by the governor. But we do not exclude such a possibility, given the government's decision to limit international mass events until 6 April due to the coronavirus situation in the world,” Elena Pivnik noted.

Brest 2020 International B2B contact fair is scheduled for 24-25 April. This year the event is themed around export of services. The second day is entirely dedicated to the tourism sector. The first international tourism forum BrestTourInvest.BTI-2020 is also in the pipeline. The program includes the exhibition, a business matchmaking session, panel discussions, presentation of regional products, workshops, and RoboFest.

Key players of the regional market, such as Grodno, Vitebsk, Gomel and Minsk companies, have already shown their interest in the exhibition. The event has also attracted the interest of such Russian regions as Irkutsk, Pskov, Kaliningrad, Penza, and Kaluga, a number of western regions of Ukraine, Poland's provinces, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Delegations of Presov Region of Slovakia and Stara Zagora Region of Bulgaria are expected to come. Approximately 140 companies and business representatives have already registered to participate in the forum.

“After registration, our exhibitors become automatically visible to all potential forum visitors, both Belarusian and foreign. Prebooking of B2B meetings is possible. It is very important. In order to make such events effective the work should be carried out before the exhibition by all participants to this process. Because it is difficult to sign millions of contracts within two days of the forum,” Elena Pivnik said.

The official website of the event (brest-forum.by) has two language versions and offers a separate tab for potential investors where they can find current investment projects in the region, information about investment opportunities and doing business in Belarus.

More than 250 foreign guests from more than 20 countries took part in the Brest 2019 International B2B contact fair. About 150 exhibitors presented their products and services at the exhibition. Investment agreements worth over Br20 million were signed.

The event is organized by the Brest Oblast Executive Committee and Brest Office of the BelCCI.
