Belarusian scientists roll out new winter wheat variety

MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) - Scientists from the Scientific and Practical Center for Agriculture at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) have rolled out a new winter wheat variety named Aylin, BelTA learned from the center.

This variety is characterized by high productivity, short straw, strong stalk, excellent baking qualities of the grain, and high resistance to major types of fungal diseases. The maximum yield is 131 centners per hectare, with an average yield of 75.3 centners per hectare. The weight of 1000 grains is 48 grams.

A total of 21 varieties bred by the Scientific and Practical Center for Agriculture at the NASB have been included in the State Register of Varieties of Agricultural Plants since the beginning of 2026. The most important emphasis is placed on increasing their yield, adaptability to changing environmental conditions, tolerance to diseases and pests, and high product quality.

The State Register of Varieties constitutes a unified database of agricultural plant varieties that have undergone state testing and are approved for production, marketing, and use within the country.
