Belarusian Energy Ministry reveals power grid reconstruction plans in 2026-2030

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz spoke about the power grid renovation plans over the next five years as he talked to journalists before the start of an on-site session of the House of Representatives Council, BelTA learned.

In his address to the Belarusian People's Congress, the president made a special emphasis on the development of the entire energy system, not only on generation but also on grid infrastructure. “We have indeed gained new generating capacities: the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been launched, and plans for the construction of a third unit are already in place. However, the most important thing is that the generated energy does not remain at the plant but actually reaches every end consumer. The demand today is enormous. More than 150,000 households have already received technical capabilities for connecting to electric heating and hot water systems. This flow is increasing every day. The pace of power grid reconstruction is currently struggling to keep up with such rapid demand growth,” Denis Moroz noted.

In the previous five-year period, the Energy Ministry renovated over 12,500 kilometers of power grid infrastructure. "Now we face an even more ambitious task for the next five-year plan: to increase the scale of reconstruction by nearly 1,5 times, reaching 18,500 kilometers and beyond,” the minister stated.

All these efforts by the ministry serve a single goal: to ensure that every consumer, whether a household, an enterprise, or an electric vehicle owner, can receive reliable, affordable, and clean electricity generated by the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
