Belarusian, American harvesters compared during field trials in Minsk District

MINSK DISTRICT, 13 August (BelTA) – The grain harvester KZS-1624-1 Palesse GS16 made by the Belarusian mechanical engineering company Gomselmash has been compared to the American harvester John Deere S785i in fields of the agricultural company OAO Gastellovskoye, BelTA has learned.

The local farmers compared the ability of the two harvesters to gather in wheat. The engine rating of the two harvesters is the same – 390kW (530hp). The working rate per hour coincides as well (3.96 hectares), however, the American harvester boasts a higher yield in tonnes. The operating speed of the two harvesters coincides – 4.4kmph.

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Subbotin said: “There are no minor details in agriculture. Workforce, salaries, the quality of seeds, veterinary services – every detail is important. If some link underperforms or is missing, the results will be poor. The technical tools of the farming enterprises are particularly important for successful work. As we could see today, our harvesters demonstrate rather high standards. Their comfort and options may be lagging behind the American harvesters for now, but their mechanical properties, grain preservation, the threshing speed are already on par. And our harvester costs half the price at most,” In his opinion, Belarusian agricultural machines have some potential for expanding their market niche abroad.

According to Sergei Fedorovich, Chief Designer of the Harvester Engineering Division at OAO Gomselmash, the output and the quality of harvesting of the two machines are comparable. “The American harvester is more expensive due to the availability of additional functions: a harvest mapping system and a system of automatic settings. Such functions enjoy low demand in our conditions for now,” he remarked.
