Belarus, Uzbekistan to sign five-year agreement on social, economic cooperation

TASHKENT, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Uzbekistan will sign an intergovernmental agreement on social and economic cooperation for 2019-2023 during the official visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Uzbekistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich told the media on 12 September, BelTA has learned.

"The agreement will be signed tomorrow. It has been agreed by all stakeholders. We have been working on it for a long time and finally it is ready. This is a comprehensive agreement on cooperation between our countries, based on economic relations," Leonid Marinich said.

The document focuses on the cooperation in industry, agriculture, the defense complex, science and technology. "It will also reflect a new milestone in our cooperation – regional cooperation," the diplomat added.

Following the talks between the heads of state, the parties intend to sign about 15 documents. Besides, a number of agreements and contracts will be concluded during the Belarus-Uzbekistan business and interregional cooperation forum that is running in Tashkent these days.
