BREST, 25 August (BelTA) - A delegation of Belarus’ Brest Oblast visited Russia's Penza Oblast on a business trip on 20-23 August. Brest Oblast Vice Governor Mikhail Batsenko told the media about the outcomes of the negotiations, BelTA has learned.
Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik heads the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Penza Oblast on Belarus’ behalf.
The main goal of the trip to the Russian region was to discuss unresolved issues ahead of the next meeting of the working group. “If we take the country as a whole, our export figures are quite good. We must achieve a growth rate of at least 105% this year,” Mikhail Batsenko said. The program included visits to enterprises. Among them were producers of high-tech medical products and equipment for the automotive industry, an IT company for industrial automation, a developer of aviation training aids, and a dairy processing plant. “The matter of opening a Belarusian Trading House in Penza Oblast was discussed. Penza Oblast suggested three venues, all completely different in their focus. There are preliminary plans. We will work, most likely, with a Russian operator who knows how to trade in Russia and who has its own trading platforms,” the Brest Oblast vice governor said.
The Belarusian and Russian sides are implementing joint economic projects, paying close attention to industrial cooperation. Certain progress has also been made in this area. Belarusian representatives are also interested in importing products from Penza Oblast that are not available in the country. “In terms of industrial cooperation, the primary focus is on mechanical engineering. Our enterprises are ready to supply their products to the assembly lines of Penza Oblast's enterprises to develop a joint final product,” Mikhail Batsenko added.
A meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Penza Oblast is planned to be held in Penza in early October. Last year, a similar meeting took place in Brest. “New areas for developing our relations next year will be determined during the working group meeting,” the Brest Oblast vice governor said.
During the visit, the delegation from Brest Oblast attended the closing ceremony of the Gvardeyets military-patriotic training camp in Penza. This year, the camp featured participants from Belarus for the first time.
