MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) sees significant potential for increasing exchange trade with economic entities in Russia’s Tambov Oblast and Saratov Oblast. The drivers of growth should be the diversification of the commodity range, an increase in mutual supplies of agricultural products, and a wider application of the exchange mechanism to address import substitution tasks, Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations at BUCE German Puzyrny said during a seminar for business circles from Tambov and Saratov, organized by Russia’s trade mission in Belarus, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service

Speaking to the event participants, the BUCE representative noted that Tambov Oblast and Saratov Oblast have traditionally been among the exchange’s key partners among Russian regions, but the current dynamics of cooperation indicate untapped potential. Therefore, the main task for the future is to move from ad hoc transactions to targeted, systematic work by accrediting new trading participants and adding more items to the list of traded goods.

“It is clear that businesses in Tambov Oblast and Saratov Oblast are interested in working through the exchange platform. Over the past few years, a certain pool of companies has formed that regularly participate in trading and conclude deals. These are mainly purchases of Belarusian dairy products and exports of paints and varnishes to Belarus. However, the current economic situation and the focus on deepening industrial cooperation within the Union State of Belarus and Russia require a new level of collaboration regarding exchange. As with other Russian regions, the priority is to expand the commodity range. In particular, we are now actively exploring the possibility of organizing mutual supplies of agricultural products, including grain crops, feed additives, meat products, and oil and fat products,” German Puzyrny emphasized.

During the seminar, consideration was given to import substitution. According to the BUCE expert, the exchange can serve as an effective platform for replacing lost supplies of products from unfriendly countries by establishing contacts between Belarusian and Russian manufacturers of equivalent goods.

“Given the need to establish new logistics chains, the exchange mechanism allows businesses to cut the time it takes to find reliable counterparties, reduce the risk of non-payment, and access market pricing tools without intermediary markups,” the exchange representative noted.

As of 26 March 2026, 34 economic entities from Saratov Oblast and 18 from Tambov Oblast are accredited at BUCE.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
