Belarus, Russia to integrate information systems for marking, tracking goods

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia will integrate information systems for the marking and tracking of goods, BelTA learned from Belarusian Tax and Duties Minister Sergei Nalivaiko on 10 September.

The Union State programs, which were passed by the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 10 September, provide for synchronizing approaches to operating the goods tracking mechanism, for statutory regulation and technical support for the mandatory marking of goods with identification means. “For many years we've been tightly cooperating with the Federal Tax Service of Russia. Certain formalization is simply happening now. It is a transition of our level of interaction into the digital format. We've been ready for it for a long time. Our systems and Russian ones rely on digital platforms. A common platform will be built now to enable data sharing between these two separate systems,” the official noted.

In his words, the platform will become operational according to the timeline specified by Union State programs. The marking functionality will start working on 1 April 2022 while the tracking functionality will be available as from early 2023. “There is no doubt we can do it on time. It will allow increasing effectiveness of work on both sides,” the tax and duties minister stressed.

Apart from that, the sides have agreed to sign international agreements on common indirect taxation principles, introduce an integrated system for administrating indirect taxes, and set up a joint advisory body – the Tax Affairs Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
