MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia will hold talks over natural gas prices for 2020 this week, Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich told reporters on the sidelines of the Belarusian Energy and Ecology Forum on 8 October, BelTA has learned.
“The meetings have been scheduled, some are to take place this week,” Viktor Karankevich said when asked whether any high-level negotiations between the energy ministers and deputy prime ministers have been scheduled any time soon.
Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko previously stated that the matter of the Russian gas price for Belarus will be settled in December. The Belarusian position is that equal conditions must be created for business entities in the Belarus-Russia Union State and energy prices should be negotiated accordingly.
In 2019 Belarus pays $127 per 1,000m3 of Russian natural gas.
