Belarus, Russia discuss cooperation on rare-earth minerals 

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia have discussed the potential of extracting rare-earth minerals  from industrial waste and other topical issues of subsoil use, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus.

A delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection headed by Minister Sergei Maslyak is paying a working visit to the Russian Federation.  

The minister met with Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Dmitry Tetenkin. During the meeting, the parties discussed the rare-earth mineral resource potential in Belarus and Russia; technologies and equipment for mining and processing of rare earth metals; potential for recovery of rare earth metals from subsoil and industrial wastes; areas of cooperation in the field of exploration, mining and processing of rare earth metals.

The Belarusian delegation also met with representatives of the State Commission for Mineral Reserves to discuss the current agenda in the industry. The parties exchanged the experience in conducting expert examination of project documentation for geological exploration of subsurface resources.
