MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Belarus and China have achieved the highest level of trust and cooperation, and this is not subject to revision regardless of geopolitical circumstances, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi emphasized this message by the head of state during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan on 13 February, BelTA has learned.
The meeting took place ahead of the Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival, and on this occasion, Dmitry Krutoi extended his warmest congratulations and wishes to the ambassador. He noted that the past year of 2025 was very eventful for Belarusian-Chinese relations, with a number of visits and significant events taking place. In 2026, the positive momentum must be maintained, the head of the Belarus President Administration said. According to him, this should be facilitated by visits at various levels planned for 2026, including through government and Belarus President Administration channels.
The head of the Belarus President Administration also underscored the highest level of trust and cooperation between Belarus and China. “And this, of course, is not subject to revision, regardless of any geopolitical circumstances. We are advancing our agenda together. We are grateful to China for its all-round support in the political area, as well as in the economic and investment sectors,” Dmitry Krutoi stated.
The ambassador recalled that a year ago, in January 2025, the Chinese president was among the first to send congratulations to Aleksandr Lukashenko on his victory in the presidential election in Belarus. “In this way, we showed the whole world our determination to maintain all-round close contacts with our Belarusian friends,” the head of the diplomatic mission noted.

The course towards building strategic relations of the highest level with China was recently reaffirmed at a meeting chaired by the head of state to discuss developing cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. Dmitry Krutoi noted that following the meeting, the president had issued instructions to officials regarding projects and initiatives.

He noted that in 2025, despite the complex international situation, Belarus under the leadership of President Aleksandr Lukashenko had achieved stability and progress in its development, while the wellbeing of the Belarusian people continued to improve. “As a true friend, China rejoices in the success of our Belarusian friends. We express confidence that under the leadership of your president you will achieve even greater success,” Zhang Wenchuan said.

Speaking about trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, the ambassador emphasized that, according to Chinese data, total goods trade in 2025 amounted to $8.8 billion. “And if services are added, the figure exceeds $12 billion. This is a new record,” Zhang Wenchuan said. China remains Belarus’ second largest foreign trade partner after Russia, significantly ahead of other countries. Various projects are being implemented to develop bilateral relations. In particular, thematic years of industrial cooperation (for 2026-2027) have been launched, and the years of science and innovation (2024 and 2025) have been successfully completed.
