MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) - Belarus is open to mutually beneficial cooperation in the agricultural sector, with its products exported to 117 countries, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov said at an event for heads of diplomatic missions in Belarus on the agricultural sector, BelTA has learned.
“Today’s event is an opportunity to discuss current issues,” the minister said. “In the short period since gaining independence, the country has achieved tremendous success in food security. Our products are of high quality and are in demand.”

Yuri Gorlov expressed confidence that new agreements would be reached at the meeting. “We have something to offer,” the minister said.
According to him, there is a positive trend in cooperation with partners, and concrete steps are being taken to implement previously outlined plans.
The minister emphasized that food security is a priority for every state. Belarus is focused on supporting food exports. Producers are expanding their geographic reach.
He also drew attention to the significant potential for cooperation. “We are ready not only to offer our products but also to share technologies and experience,” said Yuri Gorlov, adding that joint projects with Zimbabwe serve as an example. He expressed confidence that it is important at all times to remain partners and to make use of available opportunities.
According to Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits, for Belarusian enterprises, exports are a key factor in the growth of food production. Approximately 70% of dairy products and 40% of meat products are supplied abroad.

“On our traditional markets, competition is increasing both from local players and from exporters. Therefore, one of the tasks that is of utmost importance for us today is the search for new niches. This is hard, extensive, systematic work. We are analyzing each country of interest to us from the perspective of food imports, assessing the competitiveness of our prices, logistics, customs barriers, and non-tariff measures,” Aleksandr Yakovchits said.
