MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko named the main areas of industrial cooperation between Belarus and Sverdlovsk Oblast of Russia as he met with Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor Yevgeny Kuivashev in Minsk on 24 February, BelTA has learned.
“Our main indicator – mutual trade - has been growing for the fourth straight year in a row. A new target [$1 billion] has been announced today. The task is quite achievable given well-organized work. The existing reserves were outlined at today’s meeting of the Business Cooperation Council. Undoubtedly, industry and production cooperation has always been our leading area. Most of the planned projects have already reached practical implementation. This applies to BelAZ’s joint project with Russia’s Pnevmostroymashina Plant, aviation and elevator equipment. Russia’s Shvabe Company helped Belarus set up a new enterprise in a very promising area - composite products of complex shapes,” Roman Golovchenko said.
In his words, efforts are made at all levels to supply equipment to Sverdlovsk Oblast. These include haul trucks, tractors and harvesters. There are also prospects regarding passenger transportation.

“We understand that financial conditions are quite tight right now, but we have something to offer. In early February, I signed a letter to you detailing all the tools that are offered by our financial institutions to ensure that our potential buyers have a comfortable financial leverage,” the prime minister said.
In his words, such instruments can be applied to implement the project on upgrading the Yekaterinburg tram fleet, and also in the construction and road maintenance sectors.
Interregional ties keep the momentum. “Eight twinning agreements have been signed and their implementation is underway. Others are under consideration. In September 2024 Minsk played host to the Days of Yekaterinburg. In March 2025, we are planning the Days of Minsk in Yekaterinburg,” the Belarusian head of government said.
“We confirm our plans to participate in the international exhibition INNOPROM in Yekaterinburg. We look forward to seeing you at the exhibition in Belarus in late September,” Roman Golovchenko added.
