MOSCOW, 2 February (BelTA) – The Union State Council of Ministers meeting adopted a resolution “On granting the status of Union state goods to products from Belarusian and Russian manufacturers” on 2 February. Belarusian Industry Minister Andrei Kuznetsov explained to journalists which products may receive this status, BelTA has learned.
The minister said that a product will be considered a Union State good if at least 50% of its value consists of Belarusian or Russian components. According to him, this status is not only about image and promotion. “It is a matter of protecting our common Union State market from other suppliers of similar products. Priority must be given to goods produced within the Union State. Thanks to this, I believe we will gain certain advantages,” Andrei Kuznetsov said.
The meeting also adopted the following resolutions: On the main directions for implementing the provisions of the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State, On the results of trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in 2024 and in January-November 2025, On the draft resolution of the Union State Supreme State Council “On the establishment of the Union State Committee on Standardization and Quality”, On the progress of work on developing a strategy to form a common information space of the Union State for 2026-2030, On the preparation of draft documents for launching cross-border suburban passenger rail services of the Union State, along with several other documents.
