Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine to cooperate in deposit insurance

MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – The Deposit Compensation Agency of Belarus will sign memorandums of cooperation and understanding with the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Armenia and the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Ukraine, Deputy Director General of the Belarusian agency Svetlana Lega told the media on 21 November, BelTA has learned.

“We plan to sign bilateral memorandums of cooperation with the agencies of Armenia and Ukraine. This will ease the exchange of information in the deposit compensation systems and the sharing of experience with a view to improving them,” Svetlana Lega said.

The Deposit Compensation Agency of Belarus has been established with a view to guaranteeing the compensation of monetary assets deposited by natural persons in bank accounts and in non-banking credit and finance institutions.

The international conference “The deposit insurance system: challenges and look into the future” is running in Minsk on 21-22 November. The organizer is the Deposit Compensation Agency. The event is attended by government representatives, experts from the World Bank and the International Association of Deposit Insurers, the heads of the deposit insurance agencies of the EAEU countries, Europe and the Middle East. The conference participants will get acquainted with the best world practices and exchange experiences in the use and development of deposit insurance systems.
