World's steepest football stadium being built in Sydney

SYDNEY, 15 June (BelTA - Xinhua) - With its stand tilted at a 34-degree angle, Western Sydney Stadium, the steepest slope for a stadium in the world, is gradually taking shape as construction work is under way.

The stadium, which will be equipped with several state-of-the-art facilities, has a seating capacity of 30,000, and the steep seats are intended to bring audiences as close to the action as possible.

"The venue will attract top name acts and sporting blockbusters and boast the latest technology and seats closer to action than ever before," News South Wales State Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said.

He said the development will be a "game changer."

When a cost of 300 million Australian dollars (223.76 million U.S. dollars), the stadium is set to be completed in April 2019, making it the first new stadium to be built in Sydney since the one built for the 2000 Olympics.

About 300 workers are currently working on the stadium, which is expected to host the Western Sydney Wanderers soccer team and the Parramatta Eels Rugby League.
