Belarus lose UEFA Women's U17 final opener to Serbia

MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – Belarus vs Serbia match opened the final of the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship in Belarus on 4 May, BelTA has learned.

Serbia beat Belarus 5-1. Allegra Poljak, Jovana Agbaba, Miljana Ivanovic, Tijana Filipovic and Teodora Burkert scored for Serbia. Karolina Zhitko was Belarus' only scorer on the day.

Elsewhere in Group A, England edged Norway 3-2 in Zhodino.

In Group B, Italy and the Czech Republic produced a 2-2 draw in Borisov, while Spain and Germany had a goalless game in Slutsk.

The Belarusian team has two more games to play in Group A. The hosts will take on England on 7 May and face Norway on 10 May.

The top two in each group go through to the knockout phase, beginning in the semi-finals. The two matches for the spot in the final will be held at Zhodino's Torpedo Stadium on 13 May. The final game is due at Borisov Arena on 16 May. The bronze-medal game will take place at Traktor Stadium on the same day. The three best teams (finalists and third-place finisher) will play at the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup which is to take place in Jordan from 30 September to 21 October 2016.
