BREST, 21 June (BelTA) – Brest welcomed the participants of the international motor rally Victory Without Borders on 21 June, BelTA has learned.
The rally kicked off in Shymkent, Kazakhstan on 9 May. In Russia, the participants of the race united in one column and moved towards Belarus, with Brest being the final destination. Bikers and motorists covered over 14,000km and visited more than 40 cities.
“It is a relay race. In each city we were met by local bikers and motorists. We traveled through Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus, visited places of military glory. It is hard to express the feelings you have when you visit these places. You understand that our grandfathers and great-grandfathers did everything possible to ensure the future for the country so that we could live and enjoy our life,” said one of the leaders of the Victory Without Borders project Inna Subbotina. She added that the goal of the project is to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers, meet with veterans who defended the independence of their homeland, and promote unity in the CIS.
The participants of the rally visited the Brest Fortress, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame, and observed a minute of silence in the memory of the heroes. They are expected to attend the fortress again on 21 June to participate in a meeting to mark Day of National Memory of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and watch the Brest Fortress defense reenactment. On 22 June the representatives of the project will give a concert entitled as War Songs at the Brest cultural center.
The motor rally was held for the first time. There are plans, however, to make it a traditional event.
The Victory Without Borders project was developed on the initiative of the public association Compatriot of the South Kazakhstan Region, the Auto Motor Federation of Shymkent and the Pro-Studio producer center (Kazakhstan).
