MOSCOW, 14 September (BelTA) - Russian tank units will be redeployed to Belarus from Moscow Oblast within 24 hours as part of the army exercise Zapad 2017, BelTA learned from the press service of the Western Military District.
According to the concept of the exercise, the regional force will counter conditional extremist groups penetrating into the territory of the Union State for terrorism-related activities. “The command of the Western Military District alerted the independent tank brigade of the 1st guards tank army stationed in Moscow Oblast. The tank units with weapons and equipment arrived at the rail loading point. Within 24 hours they will be redeployed to the area of the exercise on the territory of Belarus,” the press service said.
During the drills Russian and Belarusian tankmen will drill the collaboration and overall support of troops, modern approaches to using armed forces in fighting against illegal armed formations and enemy penetration teams.More about Society
