Russian nuclear reactor startup company licensed to operate in Belarus

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) has licensed the Russian company Atomtechenergo to provide services involving nuclear energy and sources of ionizing radiation, BelTA learned from the Atomtechenergo website.

The license will allow Atomtechenergo to provide the services that affect safety parameters to the Belarusian nuclear power plant operator. With this license Atomtechenergo specialists will be able to commission the first and second power-generating units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The license has no expiry date.

It is the second license granted by the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry to Atomtechenergo. In July 2016 the Russian company was licensed to perform fire safety services. Preparations are underway to license the company to perform industrial safety services.

Atomtechenergo is part of the Russian nuclear industry corporation Rosatom. Atomtechenergo comprises a headquarters and eight branches located all over the Russian Federation. Six branches specialize in commissioning nuclear power plants. Two branches focus on training licensed personnel to operate nuclear power plants. Atomtechenergo offers the entire set of services required to commission all kinds of equipment and systems a nuclear power plant uses.
