Russian delegation to take part in Belarus-Russia Unity Day celebrations in Dubrovno

VITEBSK, 30 March (BelTA) – A delegation of Krasny District, Smolensk Oblast will take part in a celebration of the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia in Dubrovno on 31 March, BelTA learned from the Dubrovno District Executive Committee.

"We are expecting 40 people both representatives of the administration of this Russian district and artists. We will meet guests on the border of our districts," representatives of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee said. A ceremony of laying flowers at the common grave of the soldiers who died holding the line on the way of the Nazi offensive towards Smolensk will take place in the agro-town Lyady. Other official events include the signing of the renewed friendship, neighborhood and cooperation agreement between Dubrovno District and Krasny District. The agreement will be signed by the chairmen of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee and Dubrovno District Council of Deputies and the heads of Krasny District administration and district duma.

"This is the third friendship agreement that will be signed between our districts. The first one was signed in 1998, the second one in 2004. The ties between the districts are strong and we traditionally celebrate the Day of Unity of People of Belarus and Russia together. "Events usually take place in both districts," representatives of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee said. A concert "United by Friendship" has been prepared for this year's celebrations.

Continuing the theme of cooperation with Russia, representatives of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee said that friendship agreements have been signed not only between districts but also between some educations establishments. For example, Dubrovno Art School cooperates actively with similar institution of the town Mamadysh, Russia's Tatarstan. "They are connected by one personality, Farit Yarullin, a famous Tatar composer and founder of national ballet. He was born in Mamadysh District and was killed in the battles for the liberation of Dubrovno District. Farit Yarullin was buried in the cemetery of the Rylenki memorial complex, Dubrovno District,” representatives of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee said.
