Rectors of Pakistani universities may visit Belarus in 2017

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Rectors of Pakistani higher education institutions may visit Belarus in 2017, Rector of the Belarusian State University (BSU) Academician Sergei Ablameiko said during the meeting of the BSU academic staff and students with Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Pakistan Mian Raza Rabbani on 3 February, BelTA has learned.

“We are considering the organization of a visit of a delegation of rectors and vice-rectors of the Pakistani higher education institutions in 2017,” Sergei Ablameiko said.

He noted that Belarus-Pakistan contacts in education have been rapidly developing in the past 2 to 3 years. Belarus' Education Ministry and the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training of Pakistan signed a number of agreements on cooperation in education. There are agreements with the universities of Pakistan on a joint student exchange program. At the moment, Pakistan is considering sending 50 students to study in Belarusian universities. The parties are also establishing contacts in vocational training and science.

Sergei Ablameiko believes that all these measures will result in even closer cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan.
