MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The reactor pressure vessel for the second power-generating unit has been delivered to the Belarusian construction site, representatives of the Information and Public Relations Department of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant told BelTA.

According to the source, the reactor pressure vessel for the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been successfully delivered to the construction site.

The reactor is a vertical cylinder with an elliptical bottom. The reactor core and the in-vessel components are located inside. The reactor is covered by a hermetically sealing lid on top. Actuators for various mechanisms, instruments for regulating the reactor's operation and protecting the reactor, ducts with cables for in-vessel control sensors are located on the lid.

BelTA reported earlier that there are plans to start installing the reactor pressure vessel by the end of the year. The reactor pressure vessel and all the four steam generators of the first power-generating unit have already been installed.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is built using the Russian standard Generation III+ design AES-2006 near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020.
